Erika Ismerio has been painting since she was thirteen years old in her native country, Brazil. After her moved to the USA in her early twenties, she got her formal education at San Jose State University. She obtained her Bachelors degree in Arts focusing in General Design and Masters degree in Interdisciplinary Studies focusing in computer in arts at the department of Computer in Arts and Design in Research in Education (CADRE).
Erika is very pro-active in the Arts community in the Bay Area. Erika Ismerio has been board member at WORKS gallery in San Jose and Pajaro Valley Arts Council in Watsonville. Her work has been shown at Pajaro Vallery Arts Council Gallery, the Museum of Art & History (MAH), Brazilian Consulate in San Francisco, Golden Gate Park, Hall of Fame in San Francisco, Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), WORKS/ San Jose, San Jose State University, and etc.
Her latest works have been focusing in “freezing the moment” in motion. I like to paint powerful and graceful movements of women dancing Flamenco and practicing Yoga. I guess that it is the challenge of physics that everything in the Universe moves even if we appear to be standing still.
