My most recent body of work is a photography series from a trip to mainland China and Hong Kong in 2015, where I reclaimed my Chinese heritage as a young adult. I quickly had to acculturate myself to a new environment and begin to familiarize myself with a country where my family once called home.
My name is Frederick Liang and I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2012, I received my bachelor’s degree in Art at the University of California, Santa Cruz with a minor in the History of Art & Visual Culture. Concepts of interest to me are the relationships between humans and physical environments, the state of mental well-being, and iconography. I concentrated on photography and mixed media during my studies, but drawing will always be my first passion.
