There is something immensely satisfying about waiting behind a camera to witness the first sunrays peek over the horizon, or to see them graze the waves in just the magical hues I was hoping for.  I could sit and watch a glowing golden sunset or a soft pink sunrise glow for hours, but these are often fleeting moments lasting a few minutes – if one is lucky.  Through my lens, I attempt to capture and preserve some of these beautiful moments to share with the world around me.

My goal as a photographer is to bring joy to and make people more aware of our natural world by applying careful composition and creative use of beautiful light. Through these photographs, I express the feelings I experienced while visiting these wonders of nature.

Like any work of art, I believe a photograph isn’t limited to the scene at hand, rather, it’s a unique blend of the artist’s vision of the landscape or other subjects. My camera is a tool that provides a great starting point toward communicating that vision.  The camera alone cannot make a great artist.  My process includes meticulous attention to detail while choosing a compelling composition, lighting, shutter speed, depth of field and ISO. I also work in today’s digital darkroom to fine tune, and optimize colors, contrast, noise, tonalities and luminosity in order to better present to you my artistic vision and feelings at the time of capture.

Born in India, I migrated to the Bay Area in 1980 and now live in San Jose with my wife and two daughters.  I am an Engineer by day and photographer by heart.

Photography is a tremendously satisfying and exciting process, and above all it transports me away from the stressful and demanding Silicon Valley life and into a natural world where I find fun, adventure, and peace all at the same time.

I hope that my work evokes an emotional response in the viewer and leaves them with a deeper appreciation of this wilderness we call Earth.

Peace on Earth,
